Hunter is sister to notable printmaker and photographer Alyson Hunter. Raised in Titirangi, Alexis was educated at Elam and was influenced by the Colin MacCahon’s ethics. She then went on to live and teach in Cains, and then in 1972 she moved to London. She is known for her skill in photography and painting.
