Bloomfield (b.1866, NZ-d.1938) was interested in drawing and caricature from a very early age. Blomfield worked for several newspapers in the days before newspaper photography, when artists sketched their impressions of great and calamitous events. He was an all-purpose wood engraver, litho artist and cartoonist and a local politician.
